Beautiful Olympic Mountains  Kenmore Air flying out over the Tall Ships  What a weekend in Port Ludlow.  It seemed like time had been transported back to the early 1900's.  There were cannons booming, ships fighting, crew hustling to turn the boat and much singing.  The weather was a little cool, but the crew was sweating as they worked the lines and the sails.  I hope you were able to enjoy this wonderful era with us last weekend.

Meet Robbie.  He is one of our Interns working at The Resort at Port Ludlow this summer.  We have five interns, four from Washington State University and one from University of Central Missouri.  Because we are so diverse, they have an opportunity to work in many different areas of the Resort.  They can work at Front Desk, Banquets, Server, Kitchen, Marina, Golf and Social Media.  We are very fortunate to attract such a high caliber of interns and we are excited about the future of the intern program at the Resort.  Check out our website for more information under careers at www.portludlowresort.com

Recently Dave, a fabulous member of our kitchen staff ventured out to one of our local beaches and snapped some simply amazing photos of the local wildlife.  We thought it would be incredibly selfish of us not to share with you.  Enjoy! What beautiful bald eagles.  They arrived just in time to celebrate the fourth with us!  Maybe they will head back to the totem poles at the resort after their jaunt on the beach, we love to see them there. What a long day!  This sleepy otter enjoys a nap on the beach. There is lots to explore on the beaches around Port Ludlow! Believe it or not, sea otters are a pretty common occurrence around Port Ludlow but that doesn't mean they aren't still exciting to see!

Eggs.  What's so special about eggs you say?  Well here at the Resort at Port Ludlow we recently discovered that we are using them in the most sustainable way possible.  Let us explain...our eggs come to us locally from Finnriver farm, an organic farm located in Chimacum Valley.  Have you ever noticed how bright the yolks are here? Almost a neon yellow color!  Well, that's the sign of a fresh egg and we are proud to serve them here at the Fireside Restaurant.  Continuing with the theme of sustainability, our eggs come to us from the organic farm in crates which we send back for reuse to the farm.  Why throw them out when they are in perfect condition right!?  The next step comes from our partnership with local artists.  Our neighbor Jeanne Joseph has been working on an egg shell mosiac as a part of her next piece.  We have been saving all of our egg shells for her to use in her artwork.  Essentially, we are throwing nothing away!  How fantastic this has been, we are thrilled to be doing our part (however large or small) to help the environment.

John L Scott - Port Ludlow cleaned up trash on Tuesday along Hwy 19.  Chuck, Nathan, Pam and Diana cleaned about 1.5 miles on both sides of the road.  It was threatening rain, but luckily the weather gods smiled down on us.  This fits in perfectly with our values - one of them being Stewardship. In Jefferson County, the John L Scott offices take care of this section of road and we are happy to do our part.  We even had one very nice motorist yell "Thank You".  Made our day!Good cause and good friends made for a fun outing.  Next time you may want to join us.  Stop by the John L Scott - Port Ludlow office to volunteer.

On a voyage around the world with acrobatic shows on a sailboat, La Loupiote performed at the Port Ludlow Marina in August. If you did not get a chance to be in Port Ludlow, for the famous acrobatic show on a sailboat, the attached picutre gives you an idea of what you missed. It was a perfect evening in Port Ludlow, which is on the Olympic Peninsula, just across the Hood Canal Bridge.  We had about 300 fans.  They had traveled from Kingston, Poulsbo, Silverdale, Sequim and Port Townsend just to name a few of the areas.  The sun was shinning and it was about 75 degrees.  We were on the veranda at the Fireside Restaurant at the Resort in Port Ludlow enjoying a delicious dinner. The evening was magical...
